Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 25, 2026 • Last Updated: August 25, 2026
1. Overview & Operational Scope
MatchPulse (“MatchPulse”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of youth athletes, parents, legal guardians, coaches, and sports spectators. This Privacy Policy governs the collection, processing, storage, and erasure of personal information collected through the MatchPulse web platform, mobile applications, and sideline scoring companions.
Our platform operates strictly as a youth sports scoring and athlete telemetry companion. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to data brokers, advertisers, or third-party marketing entities.
2. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Compliance
MatchPulse complies strictly with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (16 CFR Part 312). We recognize that our platform is utilized by and for youth sports participants under 13 years of age.
Direct Notice to Parents: Before collecting or storing minor personal information—such as full name, graduation year, team roster assignment, match scoring events, and video highlight links—MatchPulse provides direct notice to parents and requires Verifiable Parental Consent.
Non-Conditioning of Data: We never condition a child's participation in any sports activity or match tracking on providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary to fulfill the operational purpose of scorekeeping and telemetry tracking.
Default-Private Athlete Passports: In adherence to COPPA and mobile app store review guidelines, all newly created Athlete Passports are configured as Private by default (is_public = false). Public profile indexation and web discovery at /athlete/[slug] require explicit, unbundled opt-in consent from the verified primary guardian.
Mobile Communication and SMS Privacy
Mobile Information Non-Sharing Disclosure:
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes at any time. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared, sold, rented, leased, or traded with any third parties. Mobile phone numbers collected for authentication, account security, or live match updates will be used strictly to deliver the specific services requested by the user.
When you provide your mobile phone number for Step-up Dual-Auth or spectator updates, message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on account and team activity. You may reply STOP at any time to opt out of SMS communications, or reply HELP for assistance.
4. Artificial Intelligence & Zero Data Retention
MatchPulse provides automated post-match recaps powered by artificial intelligence. Under the FTC 2025 AI Final Rule amendments:
- PII Anonymization: Prompts transmitted to AI model providers strip full minor surnames and identify players solely by first name and/or jersey number (e.g., “Liam #10”).
- Zero Retention Policy: We configure AI model endpoints to execute strictly in ephemeral data processing modes with Zero Data Retention policies. Match telemetry payloads are never stored by AI vendors or utilized to train commercial foundation models.
5. Parental Rights to Review, Revoke, and Command Permanent Erasure
Under 16 CFR § 312.6 and § 312.10, as well as California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA regulations and Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v), verified parents and legal guardians have the absolute right to:
- Review all personal information collected regarding their child.
- Refuse further collection or processing of their child's sports telemetry.
- Command the permanent, cascading erasure of all stored minor data directly within the application via the Erase Athlete Records (COPPA) endpoint in the Athlete Portal.
6. Data Retention Minimization
We retain youth athlete personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill team season tracking and performance analytics. Inactive accounts and historical telemetry data are subjected to automated lifecycle expiration and irreversible anonymization.
